National Grid has provided an economic development grant in the amount of $300,000 to fund the Heritage Point project in the City of Buffalo. The funding was provided through the company's portfolio of economic development programs, which was designed to support a variety of initiatives that bolster the area economy. These initiatives include brownfield remediation, restoration of longtime vacant buildings, and facility upgrades, to name a few.

At the direction of Mayor Byron Brown, the dome of Buffalo City Hall will remain lit in orange through Sunday, May 29, in memory of the victims of the tragic May 14 mass shooting at the Tops Market on Jefferson Avenue. The orange lighting is also in memory of the 19 children and two teachers lost in the May 24 shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.

Anna Kaplan and Assembly member Nily Rozic, has already passed the Assembly and now heads to Gov. Kathy Hochul's desk for her signature. Ryan is a co-sponsor of the legislation.

Commercial structure fire at Shawnee Golf Course

At 5:23 a.m., the Niagara County Sheriff's Office Communications Center received numerous 911 calls reporting a commercial structure fire at the Shawnee Golf Course in the Town of Wheatfield. Responding deputies found the structure to be fully involved on the north end, which was determined to be a maintenance garage for the business.

The New York Power Authority board of trustees approved a low-cost hydropower award to General Motors Components Holdings, a subsidiary of General Motors, that will support nearly 1,450 jobs - 200 newly created - at its plant in Lockport. The Niagara hydropower will support a $137 million investment by the firm that will enable the production of critical components for electric motors at its Western New York location.
