Surgical staff members at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center recently celebrated the successful completion of the hospital's 300th robotic surgical procedure by "SAL" the Surgical Robot. Dr. Venkat Kolli, the medical center's chief of surgery, performed the milestone operation.

In response to the statewide emergency declared by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo in anticipation of Winter Storm Hercules, Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman issued an open letter to vendors warning against price gouging, the inflation of the price of necessary goods and services. General Business Law prohibits such increase in costs of essential items like food, water, gas, generators, batteries and flashlights, and services like tree trimming/removal, emergency structure repairs, or snowplowing, during natural disasters or other events that disrupt the market.

On Dec. 4, Starpoint Central School students, in collaboration with a handful of students from Sacred Heart Academy, visited the Sterling House Niagara, a senior living community in Wheatfield. The students brought with them 47 handmade fleece blankets, which they made for the residents over the past two months.
