The Western New York Regional Economic Development Council today announced it has scheduled a second community workshop in Buffalo due to overwhelming public demand to participate in the regional council planning process. The community workshops are designed to gain input and aid in the creation of the council's five-year strategic economic development plan for the Western New York Region, which includes Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie and Niagara counties.

Andrew Cuomo has signed legislation allowing the transfer of land from Niagara County to the Town of Newfane. Ceretto noted the land transfer would give Newfane the ability to improve the area and make it a more desirable tourist destination.

Statement from Wallenda and Western New York legislators in response to bill signing

Gov. Andrew Cuomo has signed into law legislation (A.8206-a/S.4844-a) that would allow Nik Wallenda to perform a high wire walk between the U.S. and Canada over Niagara Falls. The State Legislature approved the measure in June and, according to the law, Wallenda will have one year from Friday (Sept. 23) to perform the walk. The remaining hurdle is for Wallenda to obtain approvals from Canadian officials.

Bravo's 'Top Chef: Texas' premieres Nov. 2

It's a whole new ballgame for the competing chefs on Bravo's "Top Chef: Texas," premiering Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. For the first-time ever, season nine will boast a record 29 chefs - almost double the amount of chefs in season's past - who will see if they have what it takes to become an official chef'testant and qualify to wear the "Top Chef" coat.
FOX orders 'Touch'

FOX has ordered 13 episodes of the new drama series "Touch," created and written by Emmy-nominated Tim Kring ("Heroes"), it was announced this week by Kevin Reilly, president of entertainment for Fox Broadcasting Company. "Touch," starring Emmy and Golden Globe winner Kiefer Sutherland, will join the schedule in the spring of 2012. The pilot was directed and executive-produced by Francis Lawrence ("Water for Elephants"), and the show comes from Chernin Entertainment and Tailwind Productions, in association with 20th Century Fox Television.
