A bipartisan group of state legislators who represent Niagara County and the Mohawk Valley have followed through on a promise made to flood victims by introducing legislation that would create a state disaster recovery fund. The bill (S.5987) is co-sponsored by Sen. George D. Maziarz, R-Newfane.

U.S. News & World Report has listed Mount St. Mary's Hospital for successfully implementing a higher standard of care for stroke patients through the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association's Get With The Guidelines-Stroke quality improvement program. Mount St. Mary's earned "Target Stroke Honor Roll" status.
