The Erie County Sheriff's Office responded to 176 calls from April 19 to 25. Below is a sampling of the noteworthy incidents on Grand Island. Deputies responded to 14 burglary false alarm calls and six fire alarms during the dates of this report.

Western New York's Dirty Smile has made it to the top 25 in the "Hard Rock Rising" global battle of the bands. Competing against other Hard Rock's worldwide, they finished with the third-highest number of votes received in the competition. It is now in the hands of industry judges to pick the top three winners.

Sunnking Inc., an electronics recycling and data destruction company with facilities in Brockport and Buffalo, has successfully completed the updated R2/RIOS:2013 certification process. It is among one of the first electronics recyclers in New York to upgrade to the new standards.
R2/RIOS is a combination of the responsible recycling (R2) practices and the recycling industry operating standard, or RIOS. The R2/RIOS:2013 Standard establishes responsible recycling practices for the recycling of electronics globally.
