Schneiderman announces victories for disability rights on 23rd anniversary of Americans with Disabilities Act

As the nation commemorates the 23rd anniversary of the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act, Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman today announced three new agreements and recent accomplishments in fighting for equal access for persons with disabilities across New York.

DiNapoli: State overpaid $7.8 million for hospital admissions

According to an audit released today by New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli, The state Department of Health improperly paid hospitals $7.8 million for lengthy acute care admissions because hospitals billed Medicaid for higher levels of care than was actually delivered to patients.

Ceretto: North Tonawanda to host mobile command center for victims of recent flooding on Friday

Assemblyman John Ceretto has announced the New York State Department of Financial Services will deploy a second mobile command center to assist people who were affected by the recent floods. This one will be located at the North Tonawanda City Hall, 216 Payne Ave., on Friday, July 26, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The mobile command center will assist those affected by the flooding with filling out applications and assessing damages.

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo has announced more than $1.8 million to provide low-income senior New Yorkers with access to farmers' markets across New York. The funding will provide more than 100,000 seniors with access to healthy food at 470 farmers' markets through the Farmers' Market Nutrition Program. New York state operates one of the largest such programs in the nation.

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo visited Lockport Tuesday to discuss the New York state flood recovery program and urge eligible residents and businesses in Niagara County to apply for state aid.

The $16 million flood recovery program is intended to provide immediate recovery assistance to victims of recent floods and to address gaps in coverage for impacted homeowners, business owners and farmers in Herkimer, Madison, Montgomery, Niagara and Oneida counties.
