On Friday, New York State Sen. Today's national average price for a gallon of diesel is $5.51, up $2.41 from one year ago when the price was $3.10. In New York, the average price for diesel is $6.32, up $3.14 from one year ago when the price was $3.18.

DiNapoli: Local sales tax collections up 21% in first quarter of 2022

Local government sales tax collections grew by 21.1%, or $901 million, in the first quarter of 2022 compared to the same period last year, according to a report released by New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli. Collections for the three-month period totaled nearly $5.2 billion, with growth at least partially driven by inflation, which hit a 40-year-high in March.
