The New York State Office for New Americans (ONA) on Tuesday marked the first year of implementation of the Ramirez June Developmental Disabilities Navigator Initiative. This initiative, the first of its kind in the nation, is supporting immigrants with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and their families by connecting them with service providers across the state to help them overcome challenges that may hinder their ability to thrive in the Empire State.

The Lewiston Lions understands local food pantries are under tremendous pressure, with increased demand and decreased donations. The club was able to make donations to several food pantry locations during quarantine: Care-N-Share (Inter Community Services), Word of Life Ministries and the Magdalene Project. In addition to a monetary donation, 40 face masks were also donated to the Word of Life Ministries for distribution to those who may need one.

The Heritage Center has adopted new policies to help contain the spread of COVID-19 while allowing visitors into the space once again.

The New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) on Wednesday announced more than $100 million in additional emergency food assistance for New Yorkers adversely affected by the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic. About 700,000 low-income individuals and families enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will receive the maximum allowable benefit for July to help them avoid food insecurity.

The Aquarium of Niagara is preparing to end its COVID-19-related closure this week, as Western New York enters phase four of the "New York Forward" reopening plan. The venue will officially open to the general public on Saturday, July 4, with summer operating hours of 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

As the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency celebrates its 50th anniversary year and this month's anniversary theme of "successful partnerships," the agency announced it has awarded $220 million to New York for State Revolving Funds (SRFs) to assist with water infrastructure projects that help protect surface water and provide safe drinking water to communities throughout the state.

The organization's special events department has developed alternative activities, including trivia night and paint kits, and virtual versions of the Hospice Gran Fondo bike ride and Mighty Niagara Half Marathon & Hospice Dash 5K, to engage with supporters of all ages and interests.
