Ryan Bertini was an 8-year-old student at Ohio School, when he passed away in 2005 from several medical conditions he bravely fought throughout his life. In his honor, the Remember Ryan Foundation was created. It provides grant money in support the visual and performing arts in schools.

Wheatfield residents celebrated the Christmas season during the annual tree lighting and Christmas party Saturday. The event was put on with the help of staff from the town's youth and recreation departments, as well as its Community Center. The night kicked off when Santa arrived near Town Hall on a fire truck.

Lockport CARES Vice President Toby Mansfield was recently presented with a check for $380 from students of Phi Beta Lambda on the Amherst campus of Bryant and Stratton. Bryant and Stratton students collected the money last semester for the Lockport CARES emergency shelter on Genesee Street.
