The Village of Lewiston and Gary Hall have reteamed for another year of indoor tennis at the WTS court on North Second and Mohawk streets. Lessons are provided to participants ages 5-13, regardless of their residency.

Two Lewiston businesses originally slated to become part of the renovated Fourth and Center streets complex are moving. The owners of Brewed and Bottled Craft Beer Shop and Sgt. Peppers Hot Sauces said the corner's concept just wasn't the right fit for them. As such, they're headed to 442-444 Center, a property developed by attorney and Town of Lewiston Councilman Alfonso Marra Bax.

Niagara, Orleans planning committee showcases 20 shoreline resiliency projects awarded New York state 'REDI' funding

Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul and New York Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation Commissioner Erik Kulleseid today showcased 20 shoreline resiliency projects in Niagara and Orleans counties that are receiving an estimated $49 million in state funding through Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo's Lake Ontario Resiliency and Economic Development Initiative (REDI). The projects were reviewed at a meeting of the Niagara and Orleans REDI Region Planning Committee, which includes local elected officials and other stakeholders.

Tribute to Clyde Burmaster

Shown in a storefront window across the street from the post office in Ransomville is a tribute to former 1st District Niagara County Legislator Clyde Burmaster, who lost his lengthy battle to cancer earlier this fall. It was prepared by Ransomville resident Ruth Anne Buzzard, who wrote, "The Hamlet of Ransomville gives a Hometown Tribute to their friend, and Niagara County Legislator Clyde Burmaster.

Though Casey LaFlair is from Pittsburgh and has no family ties to this area, she volunteered at the first "Rockout Cancer" event in 2018. LaFlair worked alongside the Lower Niagara Community Survivors group in raising funds for others - for people she didn't know and had never met, who were battling the disease and in need of assistance.

Village of Lewiston Mayor Anne Welch's artist group met Wednesday morning and discussed adding a mural and perhaps 3-D art to the Lewiston Event Center's exterior. She said she broached the idea to owners Emery Simon and Harold Hibbard, and they were receptive. Hibbard was in attendance at the meeting.

The Lower Niagara Community Survivors group held its second annual "Rockout Cancer" event Sunday at the Lewiston Stone House. People came out to support the organization that is now offering financial and manpower services to those battling the disease.

Village of Lewiston Deputy Mayor Vic Eydt joined with Ashley Olds, Bill Kilmer and Linda Fleck in presenting the municipality with $10,201 on Monday for the new inclusive playground project. The funds were generated at last month's "Moose's Mission" fundraiser, which was presented by Lower Niagara Moose Lodge No. 584 and Women of the Moose Chapter 1940.

In what could only be described as a sight straight out of a Food Network kitchen, The Stone House was filled with delicious desserts of every shape, size, texture and taste on Thursday night. The occasion was a ribbon-cutting for Just Desserts by Aimee - which is kitty-corner to the Lewiston wine bar. Friends and family looked on with awe at the picturesque pastries, precisely piled on serving plates.
