The Create a Healthier Niagara Falls Collaborative (CHNFC) has teamed up with F BITES on "Soup for the Soul," a six-week program providing soup and a side across Niagara Falls to those in need of a hot meal. The program begins March 4 and continues every Thursday through April 8.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development on Monday awarded more than $2.7 billion in funding to nearly 2,900 public housing authorities (PHAs) in all 50 states, as well as the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands to make capital investments in their public housing units. New York PHAs were awarded nearly $675 million.

The new program is an organized exchange system where members earn time for time spent helping other members in the community. Members can exchange hours of service they want or need with the time, or hours they have earned.

Colleges and universities testing at least 25% of total on-campus students, faculty and staff weekly will not be required to go on "PAUSE" unless their positivity rate exceeds 5% during a rolling 14-day period.

According to the latest figures from the FBI, there were an estimated 748,841 thefts of motor vehicles nationwide in 2018 resulting in a loss of $6.3 billion. Police in many regions in New York are reporting an up-tick in car thefts this year. Often, vehicles are left running tempting a thief to take advantage of an easy target.

Cooper Sign Company recently was chosen as the supplier for wayfinding signage, bronze medallions, dimensional letters and interior signage for Western New York National Cemetery, a 269-acre Department of Veteran Affairs national cemetery in Genesee County. The new national cemetery will serve the burial needs of more than 96,000 veterans for the next 70 years and will be the seventh VA national cemetery in New York.
