Zdenka Gast just recently finished walking 500 miles in only 29 days. Yet less than a year ago, the Grand Island resident was so weak from cancer treatments that she could barely get off the couch, her family said.

The Mighty Niagara Half Marathon has gone global. Runners from countries around the world, including England, Ireland, Mexico, Germany, Austria and Ethiopia, will soon travel to Western New York to "run with the river" in this one-of-a-kind race that has grown tremendously since its 2009 inception.
