Friday night, the Red Brick Municipal Building was jam-packed with people paying tribute to recently retired Village of Lewiston Recreation Director Marianne Gittermann. Friends, family and former recreation leaders - now grown up - offered gifts, hugs and thanks to the person who worked to provide activities, maintain the gymnasium and teach others about teamwork.

Mayor Terry Collesano and the Village Board members lovingly - and comically - named a storage room after Gittermann, presenting her with a sign during an impromptu presentation.

Guests enjoyed cookies, cupcakes, fruit, punch and Favorite's pizza as they mingled and watched a slideshow filled with pictures of Gittermann hard at work (and play). (Photos by Joshua Maloni)
