Buffalo Bills & Sabres announce return of Give 716

After raising more than $1.1 million to benefit Western New York charities during last summer's Give 716, the Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bills announced the initiative will return this summer. Give 716 2022 will take place from 7:16 p.m. Thursday, July 14, to 7:16 a.m. Saturday, July 16, again coinciding with 716 Day.

National gas price average increases 26 cents

Today's national average price for a gallon of gasoline is $4.33 ($4.325), up 26 cents from last week. One year ago, the price was $2.86. The New York state average is 4.45, up 19 cents from last week. A year ago, the NYS average was $2.90.

Erie County lifts mask mandate for all county buildings

On Friday, Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz announced the mask mandate currently in effect in all Erie County-owned buildings would be lifted as of Monday, Feb. 28. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website now includes information on COVID-19 community levels nationwide, a measure of the impact of COVID-19 illness on community health and health care systems, and lists Erie County in the "medium" category.

ECDOH has updated its procedures to make rapid (ID Now) testing available to any resident on request. Previously, rapid testing was only available from ECDOH for individuals with COVID-19 symptoms or those with a known exposure.
