The Town of Lewiston Town Council voted Monday to place Ron Winkley in the supervisor position until Steve Broderick takes the reins in January. The former Lewiston Police Department chief and Village of Lewiston trustee has served with this board since 2008.

Following more than three hours of absentee and affidavit ballot tabulations inside the Niagara County Board of Elections Tuesday, Republican Town of Lewiston Highway Superintendent Doug Janese has taken a four-vote lead over Dave Trane. Newcomer Rob Morreale, meanwhile, has taken an eight-vote lead for the second available Town Board seat.

Village of Lewiston Mayor Terry Collesano, his wife, Jeanette, and the Buffalo Niagara Film Office hosted a wrap party Saturday for the cast and crew of "Morning Sun." The event was held inside the newly refurbished Lewiston Event Center, where guests bowled, played games, dined and recalled stories from the Lewiston movie sets.

Summer Crockett Moore and Tony Glazer arrived in Lewiston four weeks ago with high hopes. Following an initial scouting trip and conversations with the Buffalo Niagara Film Office, they thought Lewiston would make an ideal setting for their film, "Morning Sun."

At a quarter to 8 p.m. Friday, about 100 people - mostly women, and many breast cancer survivors - joined together to form a "Living Ribbon" across the Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls. Participating in Hard Rock Café Niagara Falls USA's PINKTOBER celebration, these pink pashmina-clad people linked arms in the fight against breast cancer, and to show support for those fighting the loathsome disease.

Marie Edonyemya walked down a boat dock and filled a large bucket with water from the Niagara River, with the help of her husband, Byaombe Shabani. In front of a large group at the start of the Oct. 4 CROP walk at Beaver Island State Park, Edonyemya wrapped her head with colorful material, then Byaombe lifted the bucket and placed it on his wife's head.
