AAA tested the accuracy of these systems and found their estimates vary significantly over shorter trips or are dependent on the consistency of things that affect gas mileage like speed and acceleration.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday signed legislation (S.3812/A.436) that repeals provisions of law prohibiting the practice of barbering on Sunday. Though rarely enforced, there had been a law on the books making it a misdemeanor to cut hair or provide a shave to another person on Sunday.

The program provided aid to restaurants and other establishments struggling to make ends meet as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

New York State Sen. Sean Ryan recently announced Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed into law Ryan's legislation (S.5992), which increases the amount of low-cost power available to small businesses and not-for-profit organizations through the New York Power Authority's "ReCharge NY" program. The amount of power available through the program has risen from 100 megawatts to 150 megawatts.

As dedicated federal restaurant relief runs out, Congressman Brian Higgins is calling on Congress to move quickly to save jobs and prevent restaurants from having to close their doors. Higgins is cosponsoring the Restaurant Revitalization Fund Replenishment Act (H.R. 3807). The bipartisan legislation introduced in both the House and Senate would provide $60 billion in additional funding to fill the remaining need.

The New York Power Authority on Friday announced the full reopening on July 5 of its Power Vista visitors center in Lewiston. Most restrictions in place from the COVID-19 pandemic have been removed; however, those unvaccinated are required to wear masks and practice social distancing, as cited by the New York State Department of Health.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday announced the New York Power Authority's board of trustees approved three low-cost hydropower allocations that will create 102 jobs across Western New York and spur $145 million in private capital investments. The approved awards of 3,580 kilowatts of hydropower from the Power Authority's Niagara Power Project in Lewiston are to Americold Real Estate in Chautauqua County, SGS Recovery in Niagara County and Sumitomo Rubber USA in Erie County.

Sisters of Charity Hospital, Mercy Hospital of Buffalo, and Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston were named Blue Distinction Centers (BDC) for Maternity Care. The three hospitals delivered more than 5,700 babies in 2019.
