Grand Island's David Nolf, a talented, up-and-coming singer, will open the July 5 "Tuesday in the Park" concert at Artpark at 6:30 p.m. The headliner is 1980s pop-rock star Pat Benatar and her husband, Neil Giraldo.

Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo top off the Fourth of July holiday weekend by headlining "First Niagara presents Tuesday in the Park" at Artpark on July 5. The free concert kicks off with the Niagara Falls Air Base special opening ceremony, which will include a color guard, the national anthem, and a special flyover of the air base's C130 aircraft at 6 p.m.

In one of the most anticipated concerts of the summer, Peter Frampton returns to Artpark on June 28 with his "Frampton Comes Alive 35 Tour." The crowd at "First Niagara presents Tuesday at the Park" will experience an evening with the one and only beginning at 6:30 p.m. (no opening act). Oh, and it's a free show.

The Town and the Village of Lewiston have been working together on the new Seneca Street on-ramp that is intended to relieve traffic snarls that typically occur on Center Street after the "Tuesday in the Park" concert series at Artpark.

Village of Lewiston officials met Wednesday to discuss recent changes in municipal law. Parking is now limited on Tuesday nights so as to not obstruct private lots. Traffic will be redirected so as to better accommodate patrons exiting the "Tuesday in the Park" series at Artpark.

On the eve of the summer concert season, Artpark has announced one more special event for 2011. Canada's The Sam Roberts Band will hit the Mainstage Theater for a headlining performance on Friday, Sept. 2. Tickets ($40 and $30) go on sale Saturday, June 11, at 10 a.m.

Hundreds of families and scores of kids visited Artpark on Sunday to partake of the debut "Fairy House Festival." The event was created to reunite video game-playing children with nature through the creation of miniature houses. Buildings, made of sticks, moss, shells and other natural materials, adorned the trees and sat in the fields at the Lewiston performing arts venue.

Free Henry! headlines Artpark's official summer concert kick off Monday, June 13, at 6:30 p.m. in the Outdoor Amphitheater. The free "Rock the Park" concert will also feature Aqueous and The Little Mountain Band as openers. Free Henry! nabbed the No. 1 spot in Artpark's "Rock the Park" local band contest that was held on the venue's website for the duration of summer 2010.

Artpark has planted the seeds for a new family festival. The "Fairy House Festival" will be held from noon until 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 5. This unique, outdoor, family-friendly festival features an afternoon in scenic Artpark and is filled with creative art activities, storytelling, games, a "Magical Maze" to wander through, a book signing by children's book author Tracy Kane, and a "Fairy House" tour throughout the woods and gardens of the park.

Assemblyman John Ceretto is pleased to announce that upcoming construction of a Seneca Street entrance ramp onto the Robert Moses Parkway is scheduled for completion prior to the season opening at Earl W. Brydges Artpark. The ramp will be used to mitigate traffic congestion following performances at the Artpark in the Village of Lewiston.

Artpark's "Theater Camp" returns (Aug. 15-19; $250) to offer young theater buffs an exclusive experience with professional cast members from Artpark's upcoming production of the original high school musical, "Fame." Camp Director Candice Kogut guides "Theater Camp" attendees through the principles of acting, singing, dancing, storytelling and more. As an added bonus, all "Theater Camp" enrollees will be treated to the Aug. 18 matinee presentation of Artpark's production of "Fame - The Musical." The camp culminates with a backstage theater tour and camper-created Mainstage performance on the final day.

Artpark is seeking local schools, Scout groups, regional artists, and families to create fairy houses for display at Artpark's new "Fairy House Festival" on June 5. The "Fairy House Festival" will feature a tour of fairy houses throughout the woods and gardens of the park, a book signing by children's book author Tracy Kane, art activities and other "natural" fun for families to enjoy. Tickets for the festival are $5 and can be purchased in advance at www.artpark.net or by calling 754-4375.

The highly successful musical theater apprenticeship program instituted last summer will be extended for Artpark's August production of "Fame - The Musical" this summer. The apprenticeship program provides an opportunity for up to eight high school music theater students of exceptional talent to participate in the company's Broadway musical production. Artpark will present the high energy musical that appropriately focuses on the hopes and aspirations of a group of students attending New York City's High School of Performing Arts, in the Mainstage Theater Aug. 12-18 for eight performances.
