Phillip Phillips has taken us behind the light, which is the name of his new sophomore album, to expose what was hidden in the shadows. What we find, if we turn off the spotlight - forget about "Idol" and the song featured across television - is a singer/songwriter who is crafting authentic, anthemic, emotionally charged alt-rock songs that are just plain good.

The past week was a busy one for the Artpark outdoor amphitheater. Events at the concert venue ranged from the all-new Latitude 43 Music Festival to benefit the Variety Club, to Tuesday's rain-shortened performance of Widespread Panic, to Wednesday's sold-out Coors Light concert featuring the Arctic Monkeys.

Lewiston Dance Center students recently took part in the Fairy House Festival a yearly event held at Artpark. The students dressed in their ballet costumes with fairy makeup and fairy wings and performed their ballet dances for onlookers.

Artpark & Company welcomes rock royalty June 24 when Ringo Starr & His All Starr Band headline "Tuesdays in the Park" in the outdoor amphitheater. The legendary Beatles drummer will be joined by Steve "Luke" Lukather, Richard Page, Gregg Rolie, Todd Rundgren and Gregg Bissonette.

By now, Artpark fans know the venue has an all-star lineup booked this year. All summer long, patrons can listen to the likes of Ringo Starr, Aretha Franklin, Heart, Sarah McLachlan and Lorde.

The most popular act might be the opening one. Recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Daryl Hall & John Oates headline tonight's "Tuesday in the Park" concert series.

The first weekend of Artpark & Company's summer season boasts a country music superstar and a fourth annual family tradition.

Lorde will headline a concert Sunday, Sept. 7, at Artpark in Lewiston.

As a follow up to its 40th anniversary celebration and the 16 temporary installations on display in 2013, Artpark & Company will continue its visual arts renaissance and bring more artwork into the park this summer. Six large-scale, semi-permanent sculptures will be constructed in the historic Artpark woods and along the red brick road.

Artpark has hosted hundreds of big name concerts over the years but, on June 12, history will be made when dancing violinist Lindsey Stirling visits Western New York for the first time as part of her 40-city tour.

Brad Arnold, Chris Henderson and the members of 3 Doors Down have assembled in a Nashville studio writing songs for their sixth studio album, to be released in 2015.

Jackson Browne brings his solo acoustic tour to Artpark in Lewiston Monday, Aug. 11, for a 7:30 p.m. Mainstage Theater performance. The show is a LiveNation event.

Earlier this week, Niagara Frontier Publications learned Beatles drummer Ringo Starr & His All Starr Band were booked to play this summer at Artpark in Lewiston. The group will perform in the outdoor amphitheater Tuesday, June 24.

Artpark & Company is seeking schools, Scout troops, regional artists, community groups and families to create fairy houses for display at Artpark's annual Fairy House Festival. The popular event returns to Artpark Sunday June 8.

Artpark has announced The Kingston Trio and Glenn Miller Orchestra are set to perform at the Mainstage Theater in the summer of 2014.

Everyone's favorite nanny is flying into town next summer. Artpark has announced its production of Disney and Cameron Mackintosh's "Mary Poppins" is slated for July 31- Aug. 8, 2014. Eight performances will take place in the Mainstage Theater.

Artpark has announced "Aladdin & Other Enchanting Tales" as its annual springtime children's theater offering. Philadelphia's Enchantment Theatre Company will present two Mainstage Theater performances (10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.) May 6, 2014.

The Artpark & Company annual meeting was held Wednesday at the Niagara Falls Country Club to confirm the re-election of officers and appointment of directors.

George Osborne, president of Artpark & Company, announced today the appointment of Carrie Veltri to the newly created position of director of development.

In making the announcement, Osborne said, "Artpark is very fortunate to have attracted a person of Carrie's experience and expertise to this position. The Greater Niagara Ballet Company brings "Coppélia" to the Artpark & Company Mainstage Theater for two shows on Saturday, Aug. 17. Ballet's great comedy will be performed at 2 and 8 p.m.
