AAA comments on rear seat belt law

Gov. Cuomo signed a new law Monday, which goes into effect Nov. 1, requiring all passengers to wear a seat belt in the back seat of a motor vehicle, including passengers of ride sharing services like Uber and Lyft. Until now, passengers over age 16 were not required to wear seat belts in the rear seat in New York. The new law, championed by AAA New York state, will save lives and prevent injuries across state roadways by requiring all occupants in a motor vehicle to buckle up.

On Tuesday, WellNow Urgent Care announced its new offering of on-campus COVID-19 testing clinics for universities and colleges. Programs will offer molecular (PCR) COVID-19 testing administered to students, faculty and school staff by WellNow professionals. Each program will be custom developed to meet the needs and testing requirements outlined by the school.

His office claimed 107 school districts had not submitted a plan for in-person learning. Districts that fail to meet the Friday deadline will be unable to provide in-person learning this year.

AAA Western and Central New York is thrilled that Gov. Cuomo approved virtual classes for the five-hour pre-licensing course that is required in New York state to obtain a driver's license. With classroom instruction not allowed in New York at this time, many students were frustrated waiting for the required coursework.
