Over the course of a lifetime, a woman living in the U.S. has a 1 in 8 chance of being diagnosed with breast cancer. Breast cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer deaths among women in the U.S. It can take 10 years for breast cancer cells to reach a size that can be felt as a lump.

Congressman Brian Higgins joined Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro in introducing H.R. 5580, the Accelerating Biomedical Research Act. This legislation will incrementally increase funding for the National Institutes of Health over the next seven years. The DeLauro-Higgins bill is the House companion of S.2658 introduced by Sen. Harkin, a longstanding champion of NIH funding.

KeyBank has announced it united the operations of its Western New York region, comprised of its Buffalo and Rochester markets, and its Eastern New York region, comprised of its Central New York, Capital Region and Hudson Valley markets, to form a new, single New York region.
Gary Quenneville, the current regional sales executive for the Western New York region, will lead the newly unified New York region. The new region has more than 3,000 employees covering 40 counties across the state, 232 branches, a technology center (Albany) and a contact center (Buffalo).

Niagara Falls International Airport has two new charging stations for airport traveler use, as part of a statewide network of up to 3,000 EV charging stations slated for public and workplace locations across New York by 2018. Last week, Better Business Bureau serving Upstate New York warned school districts to be on the lookout for fake invoices from Scholastic School Supply. This week, 10 districts, mainly located in the Southern Tier, told BBB they did receive the invoices. BBB advises all school districts to review all invoices carefully and verify before payments are made.
