Each year, Kelly's Country Store donates a portion of the previous year's proceeds of their on-site fresh Christmas tree sales to worthy causes that are dear to the Kelly family. The Kelly family choose the DeGlopper Memorial because this is the place on Grand Island where residents, past, present and future who proudly serve their country, are remembered and honored.

Congressman Brian Higgins announced House passage of bipartisan legislation that will push back against the increasing volume of illegal robocalls Americans are faced with, and strengthen law enforcement's ability to prosecute those responsible. S. 151, the Pallone-Thune TRACED Act, requires every call to be verified through a nationwide caller authentication system, allows the blocking of spam calls, and empowers the Federal Communications Commission to go after scammers by lengthening the statute of limitations for these violations and imposing greater fines.

Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino in downtown Niagara Falls welcomed the holiday season Wednesday night. A free event was held on Seneca Square Bridge, and featured Santa and Mrs. Claus, Buffalo sports mascots and Seneca Gaming Corp. leaders. A large crowd was welcomed and invited to watch as the Christmas tree was lit. Niagara County Public Health Director Daniel J. Stapleton on Wednesday announced a case of hepatitis A virus in a local restaurant worker. The Niagara County Department of Health launched a disease investigation on Tuesday, directly after receiving notification of the suspected case. Following laboratory testing, interviews and a restaurant inspection, an employee who handles food at Taco Bell on Niagara Falls Boulevard in Niagara Falls was identified with the hepatitis A virus.

The Western New York Book Arts Center's 12th annual "Last Minute Panic Holiday Marketplace" will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, and from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at 468 Washington St., Buffalo. The sale this year will include over 40 vendors on both floors of the Book Arts Center. Guests can purchase unique, quality handmade goods from housewares, knitwear and jewelry, to hand-printed greeting cards and posters, apparel and ceramics.
