On Tuesday, Deputy Commissioner of Niagara County DPW Jeffrey Gaston and Town of Lewiston Parks and Recreation Department Director Mike Dashineau presented projects to the Niagara River Greenway Commission's Host Communities Standing Committee, a body of appointed and elected officials who oversee projects financed by the Greenway Recreation/Tourism Fund.

Rather than take the day off for the federal holiday, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday, BankOnBuffalo employees decided to turn their "day on," by helping at Community Missions of Niagara Frontier's Clothes Closet. Joining staff, the bankers worked organizing clothes at the Buffalo Avenue location, while volunteers from Damascus Baptist Church worked in the kitchen.

AAA: Owning an electric vehicle is cure for most consumer concerns

New research from AAA finds that, over five years and 75,000 miles of driving, the annual cost of owning a new compact electric vehicle is only slightly more expensive - about $600 annually - than its gas-powered counterpart. The study also revealed the experience of owning an electric vehicle eases one of the biggest fears associated with these cars: range anxiety.

Cuomo announces 'make-ready' program for electric vehicles

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo recently announced the New York State Department of Public Service issued a report recommending the establishment of a statewide utility-supported "make-ready" program to promote responsible electric vehicle charging station deployment. In addition, the governor announced more than 20,000 rebates have been approved for New Yorkers to purchase electric cars under the Drive Clean Rebate initiative, which provides residents with a rebate of up to $2,000 for the purchase or lease of a new electric car from participating dealers.
