Niagara University, in partnership with the Niagara County Probation Department, has been selected to participate in the Reducing Revocations Challenge, a national initiative of Arnold Ventures and the CUNY Institute for State and Local Governance dedicated to understanding the drivers of probation revocations and identifying ways to reduce the community supervision failures that send almost 350,000 people to jails and prisons each year.

Congressman Brian Higgins and City of Niagara Falls officials on Tuesday opened the Hyde Park Inclusionary Playground. The new play space was designed for children of all mobility and behavioral abilities. Attorney General Letitia James announced the City of Buffalo received a grant of $800,000 in the second round of the "Community Land Trusts Capacity Building Initiative," which acquires and renovates distressed properties, as well as provide training and technical assistance to homeowners, and create permanent affordable housing for the benefit of low- and middle-income families.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development awarded more than $314 million to 77 state and local government agencies, a record investment to protect children and families from lead-based paint and home health hazards. In addition, HUD is awarding more than $5 million to identify and address home health and safety hazards in six tribal communities.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is awarding $75 million to end youth homelessness in 23 local communities, including eight rural areas, across the country. HUD's youth homelessness demonstration program (YHDP) will help these communities to build local systems and will support a wide range of housing programs, including rapid rehousing, permanent supportive housing, transitional housing, and host homes.
