The Grand Island Memorial Library will be closed to the public through Tuesday, March 31, at 8 p.m. as per recommendations from the county executive in response to the novel coronavirus outbreak.

The Erie County Department of Health is releasing results of reports from COVID-19 testing on individuals in Erie County. There are currently 36 lab confirmed cases in Erie County residents as of noon today. Additional tests are being run by our Public Health Lab and commercial labs and results will be released when available.

There are currently 29 lab confirmed cases in Erie County residents. Additional tests are being run by the Public Health Lab and results will be released when available.

In accordance with the Erie County Executive recommendation that people avoid large gatherings of more than 50 people, and in light of the declaration of multiple States of Emergency, all Erie County school districts will be closed until April 20, 2020.

Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz, Commissioner of Health Dr. Gale Burstein and Commissioner of Homeland Security and Emergency Services Daniel Neaverth Jr. announced three individuals in Erie County tested positive for COVID-19, a disease caused by a novel coronavirus. The cases were confirmed through testing at the Erie County Public Health Lab late Saturday afternoon and are the first confirmed cases in Erie County.

On Saturday evening, Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz posted the following on his Facebook page: "I have been advised by the Erie County Department of Health (ECDOH) that of today's tests, 3 samples from Erie County residents tested positive for the #Coronavirus/#COVIDー19. Our Department of Health is currently contacting close contacts of the three persons.
