Niagara County Office for the Aging distributing farmers market coupons

The Niagara County Office for the Aging has begun distributing farmers market coupon booklets at sites throughout Niagara County. The Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program, provided by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, provides coupons to all who meet age and income requirements. Each booklet contains five coupons worth $4 each ($20 total), which can be used to buy fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables at participating farmers' markets throughout New York.

NYSDOT to host public hearing on Niagara Falls Boulevard intersection improvement project

The New York State Department of Transportation will host a public hearing from 4-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, about a proposed intersection improvement project on U.S. Route 62 (Niagara Falls Boulevard) at NY Route 429 (Ward Road) and Witmer Road in the Town of Wheatfield.
Local officials pledge support of Law Enforcement Academy move to NCCC campus

On Tuesday, a press conference was held to celebrate the return of the Niagara County Law Enforcement Academy to the Sanborn campus of Niagara County Community College. NCLEA will relocate to NCCC in August after a decade at Niagara University. Several elected officials joined college leaders to pledge their support of local law enforcement and the academy's move.
Niagara University breaks ground on $11.5 million renovation for Kiernan Center

On Tuesday, Niagara University broke ground on its $11.5 million renovation project at the university's Kiernan Recreation Center. Project construction is scheduled to begin later this month, and the renovation is expected to be completed for the fall 2022 semester. Funding for the project includes a $1 million grant from the NYS Higher Education Capital Matching program (HECap), as well as other private donations and university investments.
North Tonawanda Football Hall of Fame to induct 12

The program helps foster relationships between children from the City of Niagara Falls and law enforcement in social settings, rather than police-related instruction.

Reopening of immunization clinic in Niagara County

NYSDOT announces construction to rehabilitate Niagara Street & John B. Daly Boulevard in Niagara Falls

New York State Department of Transportation Commissioner Marie Therese Dominguez announced construction will soon begin on a $6.4 million project to rehabilitate State Route 384, Niagara Street, from John B. Daly Boulevard to the Rainbow Bridge Plaza, and John B. Daly Boulevard, from Niagara Street to Buffalo Avenue in the City of Niagara Falls. The project will transform Niagara Street in downtown Niagara Falls, creating a multimodal thoroughfare which will reconnect the portions of Niagara Falls' downtown.
Town of Niagara: Master plan taking shape in Veterans Memorial Community Park

Wheatfield memorial tank shines with new paint job

Last week, the M-60A3 army tank located at the Wheatfield Veterans Memorial received a fresh coat of paint. While it's still green, of course, the tank now more closely matches the paint of the UH1-D Huey helicopter also featured in the memorial.

The preparation leading up to the bout was grueling. As her trainer Pativaj Soundara explained, it's essentially a second job.

Niagara County Joseph Jastrzemski on Thursday said Gov. Andrew Cuomo will not be extending his executive orders as the state of emergency for COVID-19 ends. This means there will not be any more extensions for expired drivers' licenses and permits.
