Niagara University sports teams managing very different weather conditions in spring months

The Niagara University Purple Eagles women's lacrosse and softball teams are navigating their practice and game schedules around the winter weather on the ridge. The women's softball team is preparing both indoors and outdoors for its upcoming spring series games in Hawaii, as the women's lacrosse team bundles up outdoors as the unpredictable weather continues.
Local film 'Jackass Love' airs Saturday on WNED

Niagara SPCA honors Lloyd and other departed pets

The community came together to remember, pray and reflect upon the life of Lloyd, a pitbull dog who touched the lives of so many, who died on Jan. 11. Lloyd was honored Monday as part of the Niagara SPCA's second annual "Celebration of Life" Illuminated Memorial Ceremony, held at Otto Redanz Funeral Home.

Niagara County DA announces guilty plea in hate crime case

Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman announced Howard J. Murphy, age 61, of the Town of Niagara, entered a guilty plea in County Court to the crime of criminal mischief in the second degree, as a hate crime. Murphy admitted to vandalizing a neighbor's fence on May 16, 2022, by spraypainting onto it a violent message containing a racial slur. The incident occurred just two days after the mass shooting at Topps in Buffalo.

One dead, child injured from fall at Niagara Falls State Park

Before 1 p.m. Monday afternoon, the Niagara Falls Fire Department and New York State Park Police responded to a call for two people possibly in the Niagara Gorge, between Terrapin Point and the Cave of the Winds at Niagara Falls State Park. Upon arrival, they were advised two people climbed over a railing and fell from the edge.
