On Saturday at 5:21 a.m., the Niagara County Sheriff's Office communications division received a 9-1-1 call from a female caller in the 800 block of Sunnyside Drive in the Town of Niagara. She stated that a male in a mask approached her idling vehicle and stole it from her driveway.

The 66th season of racing at the Ransomville Speedway officially began on Friday night for the annual "Test, Tune, and Time." Seventy-one cars signed in pitside to open the 2024 campaign. The top two quickest during time trials have set the front row for opening night feature events in their respective divisions.

Dr. Derron Hilts, assistant professor and school counseling program coordinator at Niagara University, along with his colleague, Dr. Yanhong Liu, associate professor at Syracuse University, received a $5,000 grant from the New York State School Counselor Association to examine the relationship between the COVID-19 pandemic and student-to-school counselor ratios on student outcomes.

Members of the Lewiston Town Board voted by a 3-2 margin Monday evening to endorse Local Law No. 2 of 2024. The board's action, which followed plenty of debate, now essentially prohibits the operation of short-term/transient rentals. The decision comes off a contentious March 11 public hearing on the issue, and comments both for and against short-term rentals operating in local neighborhoods.
