An Advent silent guided weekend retreat will take place at Stella Niagara's Center of Renewal in Lewiston. The event will run from Friday evening dinner through Sunday lunch, Dec. 3-5, and will include Advent prayers, periods of silence with moments of reflective and contemplative time, along with scheduled conferences, group sharing and prayer chants, and personal reflective questions for use all throughout Advent leading up to Christmas.

She was introduced as NU's inaugural vice president for diversity, equity and inclusion during an event at the Castellani Art Museum on Monday.

Everyone loves the lights of the holidays, and this year's "Buffalo/Niagara Holiday Light Show" at the Niagara County Fairgrounds is set to deliver fun for the entire family. Construction of dozens of towering displays with hundreds of colored lights is well underway. The show opens Nov. 19 with what organizers called "a safe, secure, drive-thru experience synchronized to holiday music through your car radio."

Niagara Pride is asking Western New Yorkers and local businesses to help with its 2021 holiday shopping online auction by donating items or services to be part of the event. The auction will start on Black Friday, Nov. 26, and run through Saturday, Dec. 4. All items need to be donated by Nov. 20.

On Nov. 13-14, the Niagara Wine Trail will host its annual "Share the Bounty" event. Each participating winery has selected a different charity. They will collection donation of items or donate the tasting fees to that charity. There is no ticket for this event, but people are encouraged to visit as many wineries as they wish.

The Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce celebrated a ribbon-cutting at Trait-Carré, a boutique shop located at 480 Center St., in the Village of Lewiston. The retail business is owned and operated by chamber board member Matt Villnave. Trait-Carré offers a personally curated collection of soaps, candles, aromatherapy and skincare products.

The former Niagara Catholic High School building, at 520 66th St., has sort of resembled Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory since it closed in the summer of 2018. Tremendous work has taken place inside - out of view from the general public - with great expectations in place for what might be when The Chapel reopens the site in the near future.
