One of Artpark & Company’s largest audiences this season welcomed Gin Blossoms, Toad the Wet Sprocket and Vertical Horizon to the outdoor amphitheater on Sunday night. The circa-1990s hit-makers were greeted by substantial crowd involvement and sing-alongs, as patrons often doubled as guest vocalists.
Vertical Horizon led off, and got fans up and moving on songs including “You're a God,” “Best I Ever Had (Grey Sky Morning)” and “Everything You Want.”
Toad the Wet Sprocket followed, and upped the ante with crowd favorites “Good Intentions,” “Rings,” “All I Want,” “Walk on the Ocean,” “Fall Down,” and a cover of R.E.M.’s “Driver 8,” which featured TTWS frontman Glen Phillips joined by Vertical Horizon’s Matt Scannell and Gin Blossoms lead vocalist Robin Wilson.
As the sun set, the Gin Blossoms lit up the stage with their high-energy set, whipping the crowd into a full frenzy of fun with a string of singles that included “Allison Road,” “Found Out About You,” “Hey Jealousy” and “Til I Hear It from You.”
In addition to a full night of music, the bands raffled off a signed guitar, with proceeds to support the Gary Sinise Foundation and this nation’s veterans and first responders.
