You know that cheeseburger and fries combo you’ve been dreaming about at night?

It’s served at Lumberjack’s Patio Grill.

The sandwich is big, beefy and juicy. Its side dish is perfectly sliced, seasoned and crispy (there’s a sweet potato option, too). Combos come complete with a bottomless soft drink, and flavors include loganberry, raspberry iced tea and root beer.

Delicious as it may be, this combo is just one of many unique offerings on the North Tonawanda waterfront eatery’s menu.

“We try to keep as local as we can. We promote Wardynski’s, Anderson's, Costanzo’s rolls. It just is a good practice to keep local,” owner/operator Carol Tallichet said.

“We totally value our customers,” she added. “We welcome them to stop and try us.

“Our food is a good product. We cut our own fries in the morning. We buy boxes of Idaho – 20-pound boxes – and cut them daily, so it's really fresh. Even on the dill pickles, on the chips, we buy the chips and then we just don't buy them frozen and cook them. We dip them ourselves and cook them.

“We also pride ourselves on our product, because I feel it's a good product. And if it isn't, it doesn't stay on the menu very long.”

Lumberjack’s – a two-time winner of NFP’s “Savory Summer” “Best Summer Dining Spot” – also serves:

•Wardynski’s hot dogs on a toasted bun (regular or footlong – and try one with chili or Coney Island-style with cheese, onions and chili). “Wardynski’s I like, over their competitor, because of the casing. The casing is not as tough as their competitor,” Tallichet said.

•Mineo & Sapio Italian sausage, with sauteed peppers and onions.

•A chicken sandwich on a toasted Costanzo’s Bakery roll, with lettuce and tomato.

•Fried steak bologna with sauteed onions.

•Crunch rolls – Buffalo chicken, banana pepper, or steak and cheese.

•Deep-fried pickles and soft pretzel sticks.

For the healthier eater, Lumberjack’s serves:

•A BLT on toasted sourdough.

•Lettuce wrap and veggie burgers.

•Green and grilled chicken salads.

Plus, “Our fish fry is a dynamite fish fry – and we serve fish frys every day, not just on Fridays,” Tallichet said. “And our fish sandwich is equally as popular as the fish fry dinner.”

Lumberjack’s proudly dishes up Anderson’s Ice Cream (cone, cup, milkshake and soda float), and additional drinks include beer, wine and spritzers.

While the waterfront view is picture-perfect, and the food quality inside the eatery – a former marina – is the same this summer, the recent work staff has graduated.

“We have 11 new employees,” Tallichet said. “The people that have left are on permanent jobs now. They've been with me six, seven, eight years. So, they're working real jobs, shall we say? We're training a bunch of new ones. I'm sure they'll be with us many years to come.”

Tallichet said she takes pride in providing youth with real-world work experience.

“I do because, in most cases, this is their first job. So, I do take pride, and I'm very proud of them all,” she said. “Especially, I had two girls come in yesterday; one’s working in Boston and the other one’s working in Rochester – really good jobs – and I'm so proud of them, because they're a great example of the young people we have.”

Lumberjack’s opened for the 2024 season on Memorial Day. Hours of operation for boaters, bikers, motorists and walkers are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily at 1000 River Road.

“We're going to have music twice a week – Wednesday, Sunday – it starts on June 19 (Wednesday) with the Hastings. They’re a local husband and wife group,” Tallichet said. “Come listen. Hopefully, it will be great weather and we'll be out on the patio.”

She emphasized “We just love our customers.

“I was standing there at the restaurant the other day looking back, and I thought it's really unique and different, and we're very proud of it.”
