The Youngstown Business and Professional Association held its spring 2023 membership meeting Tuesday at the Ontario House (aka Jug). The well-attended event included YBPA’s installation of officers and board of directors by the Hon. David Truesdale, as well as number of informational items for members.
Included was news concerning the YBPA 2023 Business of the Year, and a new honor recognizing community service organizations in the River Region.
“The board decided last year that, because we have so many amazing community service organizations, that we should recognize them,” YBPA Secretary Mark Butera said.
He announced Lewis Bean’s Hill of Beans Coffee Shop on Main Street was selected as 2023 Business of the Year.
Butera then announced the YBPA board determined three organizations were deemed worthy to receive the first Community Service Recognition honor: The Youngstown Free Library, the Youngstown Lions Club, and Youngstown VFW Lake Ontario Post 313.
“These organizations do amazing stuff,” Butera said.

He noted YBPA would hold a special recognition program to honor the winners, in September, at the Niagara Frontier Golf Club on Lake Road.
“We’re going to have a formal recognition celebration for these great service organizations,” Butera, said.
Planning and the details for this special program are still in development and will be forthcoming.
