A sure (and satisfying) sign of spring: Hibbard’s Original Frozen Custard officially opened for the 2019 season on Monday.

The Hibbard family has been serving award-winning frozen custard for 80 years. Their Lewiston business offers a rotating panel of flavors, including vanilla, chocolate, black raspberry, banana, mint chip, chocolate peanut butter cup and pistachio. Hibbard’s also sells a wide variety of Perry’s Ice Cream. Flavors are listed next to the serving windows.

Custard and ice cream come in a waffle or sugar cone – with or without sprinkles – as well as in floats, sundaes and milkshakes. Specialty items also are available, including a banana split, packed pints and packed quarts. Pint flavors include vanilla, chocolate, pistachio, peanut butter, black raspberry, caramel turtle and “Cookie monster.”

Spring hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Patrons can find more information and special deals online – or join the “Custard Club” – at www.hibbardscustard.com.

Hibbard’s Original Frozen Custard is located at 105 Portage Road (corner of Center Street; across from Academy Park).
