Outdoor series wraps with plethora of hit songs
Artpark & Company billed the final "Tuesdays in the Park" concert of 2017 as a '70s-meets-'80s night of music. The event featured Nerds Gone Wild and John Kay & Steppenwolf.
Indeed, the local opening act - surging in popularity - put its own unique spin on several of the Vanna White-Michael Jackson-Rubik's Cube decade's biggest hits, including tunes from Duran Duran, Journey, Wang Chung and Nena.
Headliner John Kay & Steppenwolf shared many stories of life, politics and rock in the 1960s and 1970s, relating events to today's political shenanigans, and then performed songs live while classic videos played on neighboring giant screens. The crowd was especially amped for a three-song finale that included "Magic Carpet Ride," "Born to Be Wild" and "The Pusher."
