NFMMC appoints 2 new board members at annual meeting

At its annual meeting on Monday, March 24, the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center board of directors appointed Frank A. Massaro, M.D., and Robert J. Morreale, CPA, as its newest board members, confirmed a 2025 slate of officers, and reelected three incumbent board members.

Massaro, a native of Niagara Falls, is an anesthesiologist at the University at Buffalo. He has held significant leadership roles in clinical research, medical education, health care policy, and advocacy for resident physicians, notably serving on the bargaining committee that secured the first union contract for resident physicians at UB. Massaro has been nominated twice for the Siegel Award for Excellence in Teaching at the Jacobs School of Medicine, and actively contributes to curriculum development, specifically advancing transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) training for cardiothoracic anesthesiology fellows. He also served in the U.S. Navy as a cryptologic technician, specializing in intelligence collection systems and electronic warfare operations.

Morreale previously served as chief financial and innovation officer at Niagara University, where he oversaw financial operations, treasury, investments, facilities, human resources, campus security, information technology, events planning, and the Dwyer Ice Arena. Morreale has extensive expertise in financial management, budgeting, debt restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, internal controls, and efficiency improvements. In addition, he served as CFO and VP of human resources at Ashton Potter (USA) Ltd., managing financial operations, internal control, corporate tax, administrative functions, and human resources. Morreale is actively engaged in the community, serving on the NFMMC finance committee and as a board member of the Niagara USA Chamber of Commerce.

Reappointed officers include Chairman James C. Roscetti, attorney with Roscetti & DeCastro P.C.; Vice Chairman Cynthia A. Bianco, retired superintendent of Niagara Falls schools; Treasurer Charles G. Rader, Ph.D., retired CEO of IsleChem LLC; and Secretary Margaret M. Toohey, retired account executive at Lewiston Insurance Agency.

Reelected to three-year terms were Robert L. Bradley Jr., retired school administrator; Don J. King, retired chairman of the Polly King Art Group; and Ronald R. Campbell, retired CEO at Washington Mills.

Continuing on the board will be Tina Abrams, councilor at Seneca Nation of Indians; Rajinder Pal Singh Bajwa, M.D., NFMMC chief of infectious disease; Matthew Feldman, attorney at Feldman Kiefer LLP; Gerald Gorman, M.D, NFMMC chief of emergency medicine and president of the medical staff; Carmen A. Granto, retired Niagara Falls School District superintendent; Marion B. LaVigne, Ph.D., president and CEO of Launch New York Inc.; Peter Muscarella II, M.D., NFMMC’s chief of surgery; John (Jack) Greco, managing partner at Far Out Ventures; Judith A. Nolan Powell, retired HSBC Bank executive; Mark D. Perry, M.D., NFMMC retired chief of radiology; Rev. Craig D. Pridgen, senior pastor at True Bethel Baptist Church; Joseph A. Ruffolo, NFMMC president and CEO; and Vijay Bojedla, M.D., NFMMC vice president and chief medical officer.
