The West Herr Riviera Theatre announces the Sugarhill Gang with guest performers Raydio and Peaches & Herb, performing live at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2025.
Public ticket on sale begins at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at https://rivieratheatre.org/event/sugarhill-gang/.
The Sugarhill Gang is an American hip-hop group formed in Englewood, New Jersey, in 1979. Their hit, "Rapper's Delight," released the same year they were formed, was the first rap single to become a top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. It reached a peak position of No. 36 on Jan. 12, 1980.
Raydio is a pop, funk and R&B group from the ’70’s and ’80s that scored four Gold albums during both decades, and 20 singles that charted in the U.S. R&B and pop charts top 10 and 25. Some of the group’s biggest hits include “You Can’t Change That,” “Jack & Jill,” “Two Places,” “For Those Who Like Too Grove” and “A Woman Needs Love.”
Peaches & Herb's single “Reunited” was a huge crossover hit – topping both the pop and soul charts, and spending four weeks at No. 1 on both the R&B singles and the Billboard Hot 100 charts. “Reunited” was also nominated for a Grammy for Best R&B Vocal Performance by a Duo. As a dynamic duo, Peaches & Herb sold over 9 million albums. Their hits are still playing on radio stations around the world and continue to be featured in movies, TV shows and commercials.
