Press Release

9 Lives Digital Group (9LDG), a leading technology firm based in Niagara Falls, has announced the acquisition of the former Globe Metallurgy property. This strategic acquisition marks a significant opportunity for the City of Niagara Falls, and the Buffalo Niagara Region, as 9LDG plans to transform the site into a state-of-the-art AI data center and logistics and warehousing hub.

The property, which has been unoccupied for several years, will be revitalized using private sector investment to support cutting-edge technology and create new jobs and economic opportunities. The development underscores the commitment to innovation and economic growth in Western New York and Niagara Falls.

A global leader, 9LDG utilizes energy resources such as natural gas being flared or excess production from renewable sources to power high-performance computers and modular data centers. By powering infrastructure with otherwise wasted, stranded, or clean energy sources, 9LDG enables computing-led innovations to lower environmental impacts than traditional data centers. By bringing computing workloads to the source of renewable energy production, 9LDG is able to both reduce costs and power those workloads with on-site, carbon-free power.

9LDG President Michael Bagley expressed his enthusiasm for the project: “We are thrilled to be moving forward with the redevelopment of this property. Establishing an AI data center in Niagara Falls is a crucial step in our mission to advance technology and bring high-quality jobs to the region. This project also aligns perfectly with Gov. Kathy Hochul's exciting AI initiative, further positioning New York as a leader in technology.”

Niagara USA Chamber Executive Director Kory Schuler said, “The transformation of this property into a center for technology is a significant development for Niagara County, and the City of Niagara Falls. It not only breathes new life into industrial land, which we have a lot of, but also highlights the growing importance of technological skill sets in our community as we strive to compete on regional, national and global levels.”

World Trade Center Buffalo Niagara Board Chair Damon Piatek said, “9 Lives Digital’s interest in our region is a testament to our commitment to making Western New York and Niagara Falls a hub for technological innovation, putting us on the map globally. I commend the 9LDG team’s foresight in proposing multiple uses for this large and well-positioned property, and seeing the additional potential for logistics to serve the cross-border market.”
