A new date has been chosen for “Pitch Hit & Run” at Cardinal O’Hara High School in the Town of Tonawanda. The event, now scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday July 27, is open to those ages 7 to 14. The June 29 event was postponed because of rain and thunderstorms.
“We were all thinking of the rhyme ‘Rain Rain Go Away,’ but that didn’t work,” laughed Renee Orr, advancement director at Cardinal O’Hara.
The free event is open to all, and those athletes with the highest scores at the local level advance to the team championship round. The championship finalist with the highest score will win an all-expense paid trip for themselves and a guardian to compete in the finals during the World Series.
“We had a lot of interest from youngsters, and it was a great opportunity to show off our new baseball and softball fields,” Orr said.
In addition, a summer basket raffle will take inside the gym at O’Hara from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with the first raffle drawing at 12:30 p.m. Those purchasing tickets for the raffle are invited to drop tickets in the raffle and then stay on for “Pitch, Hit & Run.”
Raffle winners who can’t stay will be called following the event.
A full concession stand will be available throughout the competition.
