Buffalo Music Hall of Fame Press Release and Photo
The Buffalo Music Hall of Fame will be gathering at the BMHOF headquarters, located at 340 Amherst St., Buffalo, at 2 p.m. Friday, June 14, to receive an official Platinum album, “Rainbow Connection,” from “The Muppet Movie.”
Friends and family members of BMHOF inductee Ernie Corallo, who was inducted in the BMHOF in the Class of 1989, will present the BMHOF with his Platinum album, which will remain in the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame Museum archives.
Two Buffalo Music Hall of Fame Inductees, Corallo (guitars) and Gary Mallaber (Class of 1997, drums) were credited for their work on the 1979 film, “The Muppet Movie: Original Soundtrack Recording.” “The Muppet Movie,” featuring the song “Rainbow Connection,” and score was written by songwriter Paul Williams and Kenneth Ascher. Originally released on LP by Atlantic Records in North America and by CBS internationally, the album reached No. 32 on the Billboard 200, and was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. The soundtrack won a Grammy Award, a Golden Globe, two Academy Awards, and reached No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The Buffalo Music Hall of Fame is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation entity created for the cultural enhancement and enrichment of Buffalo and Western New York through the region's musicians and music history. The organization was established in 1983.
The BMHOF's mission is to honor and protect the diverse cultural music heritage of WNY through preservation, education, scholarship and performance. In doing so, the BMHOF has inducted over 300 members that includes outstanding musicians, performers, innovators and non-performers who have made special contributions to WNY music.
