The Friends of Youngstown is the recipient of a 2024 Project Play WNY Summer Free Play Series grant, which will fund two free programs led by the Village of Youngstown Recreation Department this summer.
Youngstown Recreation Director Jeff Gruarin said the programs are needed and will offer a chance for area children to learn about different sports, stay active, and socialize.
“We’ve had a lot of requests for new activities, and this grant allows us to share our new 9-hole disc golf course with the community at no cost,” he said. “We’re grateful to be a 2024 recipient, and I encourage families in and around Youngstown to take advantage of this great opportunity.”
Programming will include two sessions of disc golf instruction, and open-play sport sampling sessions. Both will be completely free to attendees, and are open to children entering grades 2-8. Registration and more information is available online starting Tuesday, June 4, at http://youngstownnewyork.us/departments/recreation/.
