Catholic Health Press Release
Catholic Health has named Eric Koch, D.O., FACP, vice president of medical affairs at Mount St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston and its Lockport Memorial Hospital campus. He served in an interim capacity since last August.
In addition to his leadership role at Mount St. St. Mary’s, Koch is vice president of medical affairs at Kenmore Mercy Hospital, a physician adviser for Catholic Health, and cofounder and managing partner of Buffalo-Niagara Hospitalists.
“We are pleased Dr. Koch has become a permanent member of Mount St. Mary’s leadership team,” said Timothy Gabryel, M.D., interim chief physician executive and chief clinical officer for Catholic Health. “His contributions during this time of transition and growth for Mount St. Mary’s and Lockport Memorial hospitals, and his roots in Niagara County, have been a tremendous asset for our system.”
Raised in Niagara County, Koch is board-certified in internal medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. An honors graduate of Canisius University and the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, he completed his internal medicine residency at the University at Buffalo/Sisters of Charity Hospital, where he served as chief resident.
Koch proudly served in the U.S. Air Force/Air National Guard as a physician with the 107th ARW out of Niagara Falls Air Force Base, attaining the rank of major. He was the recipient of the top graduate, distinguished graduate, and Honor Flight awards at commissioned officer training school.
Koch has been with Catholic Health since 2001. He previously served as president-elect of the Kenmore Mercy medical staff and sits on numerous hospital and system committees. He was honored with the Doctor of Distinction Award at Kenmore Mercy Hospital, the Top Performer Award for clinical quality and efficiency for Catholic Health, and the Sister Mary Mechtilde Award for leadership and community service.
“I am honored and excited to have been chosen to support Catholic Health’s ongoing commitment to Niagara County,” Koch said. “Catholic Health remains resolute in its devotion to optimizing and transforming care delivery in our region, and I share this dedication to not only stabilize, but to enhance and grow the availability of necessary services for Niagara County residents.”
