Spring and a new studio space were celebrated at the Orange Poppy Art Studio, 2075 Baseline Road, during open studio hours on the afternoon of May 4.
Crystal Still, who co-owns the studio with Bonnie Nevans, described the activity that took place: “Mr. Ed is instructing a luminary. We also have our new craft café, where you can select your project.
“It’s an open studio, where you can come and create. There are specific projects in the café or the luminary with Mr. Ed. We’re going to try to do this weekly, hopefully, on Saturday or Sunday. We’ll eventually have more options in the café.”
Katelyn Pantano, one of the instructors in the studio, explained the open studio.
“I think it’s the first one we’ve had, where you can come and pick something to create, or we have a project that you can choose to do,” she said. “Both options are great. I think it’s so much fun because you can create without having to think too hard about it. All the supplies are there for you, and there’s help here in case you need more direction.
“Basically, anyone could come in off the street and make something pretty, something that you like. Let your creativity flow. I just made a little luminary jar, covered in dried flowers, leaves and petals. It’s so pretty. It’s perfect for Mothers’ Day. I think it’s a great thing for people in the community to come and check out.”
