Press Release

Eight Days of Hope (EDOH) – Buffalo 2024 is taking place once again in the City of Good Neighbors. This year, over 1,200 volunteers will serve 100 families with free home repairs in the Ellicott District from July 20-27.

This is the fifth annual outreach for EDOH in the City of Buffalo. Since 2019, over 1,249 families in four different districts have received free home repairs. Each year, thousands of volunteers come together in partnership with over 60 local churches, businesses and nonprofits to build a better Buffalo together!

“To be back in Buffalo serving the Ellicott District brings joy to my heart! The City of Good neighbors will once again show up, as they always do, to serve one another,” said Stephen Tybor III, EDOH president and CEO.

“I am filled with excitement and gratitude to have Eight Days of Hope come to the Buffalo Ellicott District this July,” Buffalo Common Council Majority Leader Leah M. Halton-Pope said. "Together with their invaluable support, we are not just rebuilding houses; we are transforming lives and revitalizing our neighborhood, laying the foundation for a stronger, more vibrant Ellicott District community. My office is eager to volunteer and assist Steve Tybor and his Eight Days of Hope team throughout the Ellicott District this summer."

For those in need of assistance in the Ellicott District, they can view requirements and apply online at www.eightdaysofhope.com. Applications close at 5 p.m. Monday, May 6. Families will be selected lottery-style at 7 p.m. Monday, May 13, at the EDOH Satellite Office (852 Kensington Ave).

EDOH is thankful for the continued support of the Buffalo Urban Renewal Agency, the City of Buffalo, and our local government officials to ensure that volunteers from WNY and across the country can come together to love and serve this community.
