Jimmie Harrod, of Grand Island, passed peacefully on Oct. 24, 2023, at the age of 87.
Jimmie is survived by his wife of 66 years, Constance (Connie) Harrod; by his two sons: Jeffrey Harrod and Joel Harrod, and identical twin daughters: Karyn LeFevre and Stacy Wirth; his brother, Richard Harrod, and sister, Janice Maybach; and brothers-in-law, James Stork and Leigh Stork.
Jimmie was the outstanding four-year graduate from the vocational industrial course of Barker Central School (Class of 1954). He joined the Navy soon after graduation and served eight years in the U.S. Naval Reserves.
Jimmie started his career as a junior detail draftsman and senior draftsman for Niagara Chemical Division in Middleport from 1954-56. From 1957-59, he worked as an engineering draftsman for Bell Aircraft Corp. In 1960, Jimmie went to work for Moore Business Forms in Niagara Falls and Dover, New Hampshire. In 1977, he moved with Moore to the Grand Island Research Center and worked as an engineer and service technician until his retirement in 1991. He continued to consult for Moore after retirement and was a valued mentor and friend to many.
Jimmie was a dedicated and loving husband, father, and grandfather to 11 grandchildren. He had a brilliant mind, a giant heart, and a wicked sense of humor. He will be dearly missed.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 19 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 2100 Whitehaven Road, Grand Island.
