One of the longest traditions at the “Big R” will continue this coming Friday night as it is the 14th annual “Labor Night at the Races” to benefit the United Way of Greater Niagara.
A full card of racing will take place, featuring the Krown Undercoating 358 Modifieds, Hy-Tech Concrete DIRTcar Sportsman, KiPo Chevrolet Street Stocks, Sunflowers of Sanborn Mini Stocks, and the Kevin’s Carpet Cleaning Novice Sportsman. Davis-Ulmer and Highmark of WNY will present the racing program.
“Labor Night at the Races” is presented by the AFL/CIO Niagara-Orleans Labor Council. It is one of nearly 500 state and local labor councils of the AFL-CIO, and the heart of the labor movement. It is democratically elected bodies dedicated to representing the interests of working people at the state and local level. It mobilizes members and community partners to advocate for social and economic justice and strive daily to vanquish oppression and make communities better for all people - regardless of race, color, gender, religion, age, sexual orientation, or ethnic or national origin.
“Labor Night at the Races” benefits the United Way of Greater Niagara. In 2021, “Labor Night at the Races” raised $16,000, which was gifted back to the United Way of Greater Niagara to kick-off its annual campaign. Over the years, over $150,000 has been raided in support of United Way programs.
The 14th annual “Labor Night at the Races” is also supported by Maxwell Murphy Attorneys at Law; Lewis & Lewis PC’ and M&T Bank.
Pit gates will open at 5 p.m., with grandstands opening at 6 p.m., and racing getting underway at 7:15 p.m. For those unable to attend, the races will be streamed live on Dirt Track Digest TV.
