Niagara Falls’ Rock Burger finishes second

The New York Beef Council asked a simple question in April, “Who has the 'Best NY Burger’ ”? After many nominations, votes and debates, this question has been answered through the taste buds of consumers and the final tasting efforts of a panel of judges.

The 2023 “Best NY Burger” winner is Syracuse's Ale `n Angus Pub, with its bacon grilled cheeseburger.

The New York Beef Council launched its seventh annual “Best NY Burger” contest by soliciting online nominations from consumers as to what restaurant served the best 100% beef burger. The top 10 nominated burgers were identified and put to a vote vying for “Final Four” honors. Those burgers were then judged through a blind taste test by a panel of judges, who scored the burgers on taste, presentation, creativity and service.

The Ale `n Angus Pub's bacon grilled cheeseburger is made up of a ½-pound Angus patty, topped with pecan-smoked shoulder bacon, Ale `n Angus burger sauce, American cheese, and pepper jack cheese, in an inverted buttery croissant roll.

The other finalists included:

√ Second place: Rock Burger, Niagara Falls, "716 Burger"

√ Third place: Ben's Fresh, Port Jervis, "Benny Burger"

√ Fourth place: Tap it Bar and Grill, Rochester, "Aftermath Burger"

The “Best NY Burger” contest is sponsored and funded by the New York Beef Council through the New York State Beef Checkoff Program with the help of the Iowa Beef Industry Council.

The New York Beef Council is funded by the $1-per-head national beef checkoff program. With these funds, the New York Beef Council promotes the consumption and education of beef among consumers. This is accomplished through several programs and marketing initiatives, such as sponsored content with social influencers, paid media advertising, social media content, and partnerships with various partners both in and outside of New York.
