The start of 65th season of racing at Ransomville Speedway will have to wait another week, as with persistent rain – and an unfavorable forecast for most of this week – speedway management made the decision to pull the plug on opening night (originally scheduled for Friday, May 5).

“With the wet weather that we had here non-stop all week, the grounds have been too saturated,” General Manager Bret Pawlak said. “We just have not had the adequate drying time to provide the drivers and fans a great racing surface.”

Opening day will now take place on Friday, May 12. The 65th season opener for the Krown Undercoating Modifieds, Hy-Tech Concrete Sportsman, KiPo Motors Street Stocks, Kevin’s Carpet Cleaning Novice Sportsman, and the Sunflowers of Sanborn Mini Stocks will take place at 7:15 p.m.

The Hy-Tech Concrete Sportsman will be racing a 20-lap feature on opening night in honor and memory of Kyle Inman, who passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Kyle raced at the “Big R” numerous times in both the Sportsman and 358 Modified divisions.

Pit gates will open at 5 p.m. Friday, with grandstands opening at 6 p.m. Racing will begin at 7:15 p.m. General admission is $18 for adults, and $15 for seniors (ages 60-plus, youth). Pit admission is $35 for members 0r $40 for non-members.
