This spring, Messiah Lutheran of Lewiston is once again preparing its community garden. Our beds provide produce to the greater Lewiston area. For years, we have maintained two beds with vegetables and fruits of many types. Members from the community who walk through our grounds while jogging or taking the dog on a stroll may have noticed our garden. We say thank you to all who have helped maintain, cultivate, and have enjoyed the fruits of this harvest. As word of the garden has spread, some have expressed an interest in getting involved.

There are nearly 20,000 people who live in the Lew-Port school district. Our vision is to have our community garden as a place available to all who desire fresh, home-cultivated fruits and vegetables. We wish to have our garden beds serve all who are in need, not only those who have heard by word-of-mouth.

To that end, we are asking for your help! We are one community of faith, but there are others who care and share! We are one gathering of community members, but there are many other gifted gardeners in our town. Will you consider partnering with us on this project as we seek to enhance the health and well being of our community?

Please contact our church office for further information. Call 716-754-4944 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays.

Lutheran Church of the Messiah is located at 915 Oneida St., Lewiston.
