The 39th annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration, presented by the Niagara Falls Ancient Order of Hibernians, will take place this Friday, March 17. The group will host area’s largest St. Patrick’s Day party – and 131st birthday celebration of Niagara Falls – kicking off with the “World’s Shortest Parade” at the corner of Rainbow Boulevard and Old Falls Street at 4:45 p.m.
The grand marshal of the parade this year will be Robert L. Gedeon Jr. Born in Niagara Falls, Gedeon graduated from Niagara Catholic High School in 1977, and has had a dental practice in Niagara Falls since 1996. Gedeon has been a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians since 1993, is a 45-year member of the Knights of Columbus, and a parishioner at St. Mary’s Church in Swormsville.
Following the parade, the fun continues inside the Niagara Falls Convention Center, with traditional Irish food, drinks and live entertainment provided by the Restless Soles and the McCarthy School of Irish Dance.
Organizers are asking attendees to bring a nonperishable food item to benefit Heart, Love & Soul, a nonprofit hunger-relief and social services agency in Niagara Falls.
Tickets for the event are $10 in advance or $15 at the door. Advance tickets are available online at bit.ly/aohtickets, as well as at the following locations:
