sixstepsrecords/Capitol CMG's Passion has released their newest song, "I've Witnessed It," which debuted at Passion Conference last month.
A press release explained, “For more than two decades, Passion has continued to unite students in worship, prayer and justice, gathering a generation ignited for the fame and renown of Jesus.
“Led by Passion's Melodie Malone, the song connected immediately with more than 30,000 students in attendance across two events over the New Year holiday. Click here to listen to the truth in this anthem ‘I've Witnessed It.’ ”
Malone said, “We don’t often use the word 'witness' in our everyday vernacular, and it is my hope that we reinstate a bit of the meaning it carries in this song. Eugene Peterson says 'a witness is never the center, but only the person who points to or names what is going on at the center. …' If that is true, then not only are we all witnesses, but it’s why we were created – to give praise and honor and glory to the only one worthy of all of it, Jesus Christ.”
This year's conference was held in two locations. The first gathering in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, at Dickies Arena, followed by Passion's home base in Atlanta, at State Farm Arena.
In addition to the release of "I've Witnessed It," the live performance video from Atlanta has premiered on YouTube. Click below to watch this performance.
Malone said, "We sing to remind our souls of the character of the one we worship, and to help resuscitate a faith in desperate need of hope.”
The press release added, “Ushering in the writing, recording and leading of some of the most recognizable and unforgettable worship anthems of this generation, Passion has two RIAA Gold-certified singles (‘Even So Come’ and ‘One Thing Remains’), and more than 3.2 billion global streams. Following the release of this new song, Passion will have a new live album that was recorded during both events, releasing March 2023.”
Per the band’s team:
A movement founded by Louie and Shelley Giglio in 1995, Passion has been rooted in the truth of Isaiah 26:8 – “Yes Lord, walking in the way of Your truth we wait eagerly for You, for Your name and Your renown are the desire of our hearts” – existing to glorify God by uniting students in worship, prayer and justice for spiritual awakening in this generation.
Passion has ushered in the writing, recording and leading of some of the most recognizable and unforgettable worship anthems of this generation, and has been led by Kristian Stanfill, Brett Younker, Melodie Malone, Chidima along with a new wave of Passion artists. Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, Crowder, Christy Nockels and more have also lent their voices alongside Passion throughout the years.
With more than 3.2 billion global streams and a multitude of chart-topping singles such as “Glorious Day,” “Build My Life,” “God, You’re So Good,” “How Great Is Our God,” “God Of This City,” “One Thing Remains,” “Even So Come,” and “10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord),” listeners across the world continue to be impacted by the music of Passion.
