Think short spiked blonde hair, metal-studded jacket, that iconic high-lipped growl in sync with halting fist-pumps, all backed by shredding guitar riffs, up-tempo drum fills, and no-holds-barred energy.

Billy Idol is back, and he is bringing his greatest hits and some brand-new music to the OLG Stage at Fallsview Casino on May 5.

“This show will be new and nostalgic at the same time, and so much fun,” said Cathy Price, vice president of marketing for Niagara Casinos. “Idol is one of the highest-energy performers of all time, and his list of incredible hits are timeless. We can’t wait for him to perform on our new stage!”

A press release noted, “Idol’s career is one for the ages. Beginning in his native England in the late 1970s as a member of Generation X, a London punk band, he branched off on his own to join what many call the second British Invasion in the 1980s. It was during this time that his fame and unique style took North America by storm.

“His hit, ‘Rebel Yell,’ released in 1983 on the album under the same name, is ranked among the greatest rock songs of all time. A year earlier, he released ‘White Wedding’ with similar critical acclaim. However, never one to be cornered into following the rules, Idol also released ballads (‘Eyes Without a Face’) in 1984, and even had major success with a dance song (‘Mony Mony’), which was a cover of the Tommy James and the Shondells’ 1968 No. 1 hit.”

For better than four decades, Idol has stayed active in the music world, with eight studio albums, one live album, and 37 singles. “The Cage,” an EP released in 2022 – which features four songs – is his latest recording.

“Whether it’s ‘White Wedding’ from 1985, ‘Shock to the System’ from 1993, or tracks from his newest release, Idol’s songs reverberate like a screaming guitar solo across generations,” Price said. “Having him perform at the OLG Stage at Fallsview Casino is truly exciting.”

Billy Idol takes the stage at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $40 and can be purchased starting at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 27, at www.ticketmaster.ca.
